San Diego’s Top Things to Do, Sept. 13-25

Book your stay in San Diego over the next two weeks for a trip filled with action and excitement, including Bayfair high-speed boat races, the return of the Miramar Air Show, San Diego Restaurant Week and many other top things to do. You won’t want to miss them! 

When: Sept. 16-18, 2022 
The world’s top professional female surfers will be back in Oceanside for the 15th annual Nissan Super Girl Surf Pro, a free three-day event Sept. 16-18. The weekend will be jam-packed with world-class surfing competition that will blow your mind, plus a festival village loaded with women-inspired vendors, activities and amazing entertainment. 

When: Sept. 16-18, 2022 
San Diego Bayfair’s World Series of Powerboat Racing — a family festival tradition for more than 40 years — speeds to the finish line. Bayfair has a long and rich tradition in Mission Bay Park. The first race was staged in 1964 thanks to the foresight of the great Unlimited Hydroplane racer Bill Muncey. Muncey was the driving force behind Bayfair and getting the racecourse established to host the event. The 2.5-mile course is the longest and fastest on the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane circuit.

When: Sept. 17, 2022 
The Third Avenue Village Association is excited to bring its completely upgraded beer and music event, Amps & Ales, back to Downtown Chula Vista. The craft-beer capitals of the United States and Mexico are uniting at this year’s event, where beer connoisseurs will get to enjoy unlimited samples of brews and hops from San Diego, Tijuana and Ensenada.

When: Sept. 17, 2022
The San Diego Wave Fútbol Club is the 12th and newest member of the National Women’s Soccer League. The Wave will face off against Angel City FC to launch a new era of sports in San Diego. This legendary opening night will be filled with entertainment, community and, of course, world class soccer. Pack the stadium and help shatter the record for single stand-alone game attendance in the NWSL. 

When: Sept. 17-25, 2022  
The 2021 San Diego Open marked the first ATP Tour event in the history of San Diego. Sold-out crowds witnessed eight of the Top 20 players in the world descend upon America’s Finest City and compete for the inaugural championship. San Diego is once again ready to host the best men’s tennis players in the world. A 28-player singles and a 16-team doubles main draw are held, all featuring best two-out-of-three-set matches.

When: Sept. 23-25, 2022 
The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar invites aviation enthusiasts back to the MCAS Miramar Air Show for the first time in two years. The theme of this year’s show is “Marines: Fight, Evolve, Win,” and is a direct reflection of the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Force Design 2030 program and the technical innovations the service is undertaking to remain the 21st century’s force in readiness. 

When: Sept. 24-25, 2022  
ArtWalk Carlsbad returns for its third year to the historic North County community. Attendees can explore different facets of art from local, regional and international professional artists while enjoying street food, wine and beer, live entertainment and the area’s breathtaking views. The two-day, free festival will take place on Armada Drive, overlooking the shimmering ocean above the beautiful Carlsbad Flower Fields.

When: Sept. 25 – Oct. 2, 2022 
San Diego Restaurant Week, hosted by the California Restaurant Association, returns with 100+ restaurants across 30+ neighborhoods for eight days of dining. San Diego Restaurant Week invites diners to indulge and support local restaurants, with diverse menus featuring special prix-fixe pricing throughout the county.
