Where is the 2022 National Championship Game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide being played on Monday night?
Everything in the 2022 college football season has come down to this: A rematch between Georgia and Alabama in the CFP National Championship Game.
The last time they met, the Crimson Tide took down the Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game. That one was played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
This time, the face-off will take place in another NFL stadium but in much more neutral territory.
The 2022 National Championship Game is at Lucas Oil Stadium
Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana is the venue for this season’s national title game.
The stadium the Colts call home previously hosted Super Bowl XLVI between the Giants and Patriots in 2012 and the 2021 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2021. The Final Four has also been staged there twice.
This is the first time the college football national champion will be crowned in Indianapolis.
Alabama is seeking to add to its wealth of national championship trophies. Nick Saban has won six of the last 12 national titles and he can make it a double on Monday night, just as he pulled off in 2012 and 2013.
Georgia has had a strong run under Kirby Smart, but he lost to Saban and the Crimson Tide in the Bulldogs’ title game appearance in 2018. Georgia has not won a national championship since 1980.
