Watch UFC legend Georges St-Pierre’s UFC Hall of Fame speech.
Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre cemented his incredible MMA legacy with his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame.
St-Pierre retired as one of the greatest stars that the UFC has ever had, with his full embodiment of what a mixed martial artist should be like. He left the fight game after defeating Michael Bisping for the middleweight title at UFC 217.
St-Pierre enters the UFC Hall of Fame as part of the modern wing, being inducted alongside Jon Jones, Alexander Gustafsson, and former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman.
St-Pierre’s induction speech was short, sweet, and to the point. He thanked the entire UFC team for helping him overcome the various obstacles that come with being a professional athlete.
Coincidentally, St-Pierre enters the UFC Hall of Fame during the same week that one of his old rivals, Nick Diaz, makes his long-awaited return to the octagon at UFC 266. St-Pierre defeated Diaz at UFC 158 by unanimous decision in front of the hometown crowd in Quebec, CA.
Georges St-Pierre is one of the greatest fighters in UFC history
After losing the welterweight title to Matt Serra in one of the UFC’s greatest upsets, St-Pierre would return to the throne and go on one of MMA’s greatest runs. He won the rematch with Serra at UFC 83 before defending the title nine times.
St-Pierre also holds many other accolades as he enters the UFC Hall of Fame. He holds a record 19 wins in the welterweight division and is just the fourth multi-divisional champion in UFC history.
While MMA fans are certainly bummed that St-Pierre is all but done fighting in the octagon, he hasn’t ruled out a potential run in boxing. St-Pierre could attempt another run at greatness sooner rather than later.
