Mississippi State football radio broadcast of awful sequence deserves an award

Listen to the Mississippi State football radio broadcast call the Bulldogs failing to put up any points on the board at the goal line in the Egg Bowl on Thursday.

It is rivalry week in college football, and things kicked off on Thanksgiving in the annual Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State. Well, things were going great for the Rebels. As for the Bulldogs, not the greatest of games.

Mississippi State found their way to the goal line trailing 10-6 with the chance to put points on the board. There were numerous drops and a holding penalty thrown in the middle of them to force the Bulldogs to attempt a field goal. Of course, Nolan McCord missed his 33-yard attempt.

You heard it on the national broadcast, but take a listen to the series of events as called by Mississippi State football radio.

Mississippi State’s blunders in the red zone result in no points vs. Ole Miss

All of those attempts to cut it to either a 13-10 lead or even a 10-9 deficit were dashed due to incomplete passes and the kick that went right of the goal post.

It certainly does not help that Ole Miss pulled away in the second half. On their first drive of the third quarter, the Rebels orchestrated a seven-play drive, culminating in a one-yard touchdown run by Snoop Conner. Ole Miss then extended their lead to 24-6 on a four-yard run by quarterback Matt Corral.

Entering the game, the Rebels led in the all-time head-to-head series with 63 wins, while the Bulldogs held 46.

This will undoubtedly be something that Bulldogs fans will try to forget ever happened.
