Tom Brady not retiring shocked the NFL world but the quarterback’s former teammate Julian Edelman channeled The Office for the perfect reaction.
Throughout the Buccaneers portion of Tom Brady‘s career, his former Patriots teammate and now retired wide receiver Julian Edelman has never missed an opportunity to troll his longtime quarterback. That has continued to be the case this offseason when it looked like the future Hall-of-Famer was retiring.
On Sunday, however, Brady threw the NFL world a massive curveball as the quarterback effectively unretired by taking to Twitter to announce that he’d be returning to the field for his 23rd season in the league, rejoining the Bucs and attempting to add another ring to an already full pair of hands.
Naturally, Edelman had to chime in. This time around, he chose a classic gif from The Office with the ineffable Michael Scott “snip, snap, snip, snap” line:
Tom Brady unretires: Julian Edelman uses The Office gif for perfect reaction
I defy you to find a reaction that’s even remotely as spot-on as Edelman’s to this whole situation.
Because of their relationship over the years, we know that Edelman is just poking fun at his friend for the flip-flopping and indecision on Brady’s NFL future. At the same time, though, it’s a sentiment that many NFL fans likely relate to wholeheartedly at this point.
Brady unretiring, though, just adds to an already insane start to the NFL offseason in terms of quarterback movement. First Aaron Rodgers decided to stay with the Packers, then Russell Wilson was traded to the Broncos, then Carson Wentz was traded to Washington as well.
Suffice it to say that, considering that free agency hasn’t even started, the offseason train is already well off the rails.
