Duke will look to pick up its second straight ACC win against Clemson.
The 2020-21 season has been a disappointing one for Duke but there is still time for the Blue Devils to turn things around. Mike Krzyzewski’s team took a step in the right direction earlier this week, defending their home floor with a 75-68 win over Georgia Tech to snap a three-game losing streak.
The victory was by far the best of the season for the Blue Devils, which defeated an average ACC team by getting a combined 37 points from freshmen D.J. Steward and Jalen Johnson. Beating the Yellow Jackets usually isn’t something to write home about for Duke but it marked the first time this season that the Blue Devils have beaten a team with a winning record.
Another quality win opportunity presents itself for Duke this afternoon as they play host to the Clemson Tigers. This season started off with dream-like potential for the Tigers, who climbed as high as No. 12 in the polls, but Clemson hit the skids with a three-game losing streak of its own.
None of the losses came against bad opponents but the frightening thing for Brad Brownell’s team is how badly they were outplayed in each contest. Clemson lost each game by at least 18 points before managing to stop the bleeding earlier this week with a four-point victory against Louisville.
This matchup could be problematic for Clemson since they are not a prolific offensive team. If Duke is clicking on all cylinders offensively it will be tough for the Tigers since they don’t have the firepower to keep up with the Blue Devils’ high-flying freshmen.
