Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin’s Twitter activity shows that he is interested in recent transfer portal entrant Caleb Williams.
Oklahoma has already lost Spencer Rattler to the transfer portal, and they may be on the verge of losing another. Caleb Williams, who took over for Rattler as the Sooners’ starting quarterback, announced on Monday that he is entering the transfer portal, but did not rule out a return to Oklahoma. There are going to be a ton of programs interested in the true freshman and five-star recruit.
Based off Twitter activity, Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin is interested in landing Williams from the portal. From retweeting William’s transfer statement to retweeting a photo edit of the quarterback in an Ole Miss uniform.
Lane Kiffin sends message to Caleb Williams
Kiffin being interested in Williams should not come as a shock. Ole Miss was one of the many teams trying to successfully recruit him to their football program. Williams ultimately chose to go to Oklahoma.
The Rebels and Kiffin are preparing for life without Matt Corral, who is set to become one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft. Not only that, but offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby will no longer be with the program either, as he left to take the same position at Oklahoma. Whether Kiffin can convince Williams to transfer to Oxford remains to be seen.
Williams is coming off an Alamo Bowl performance where he completed 21-of-27 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns.
In 11 games with the Sooners this past season, Williams completed 64.5-percent of his passes for 1,912 yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions, while running for 442 yards and six touchdowns on 79 carries.
