LeBron James Speaks On Why He’s Still Hitting The NBA Courts After 19 Seasons

First rule to being a goat is you have to believe you’re the goat! And that seems to be no issue for top NBA (National Basketball Association) player LeBron James. In the season five premiere of the series The Shop, LeBron openly spoke on why he’s not ready to leave professional basketball yet.

What Bothers LeBron

The answer to this stemmed from a part of the 31-minute episode where LeBron explained how not playing bothers him.

“The only thing that bothers me is when I’m not able to play cause of a injury,” he said. “That bothers me when I’m not able to be out on the floor…I never know if it was like, that game or that city, that a kid was coming to, that was coming to see me and I’m not playing in that game.”

LeBron continued on saying that his coaches have suggested he “sit down” and “take off games,” but he refuses.

What Keeps LeBron On The Court

At this point, Paul Rivera asks LeBron what’s the reason behind his refusal to slow down.

“Why is that? I’ve never asked you that. You have MVPs, championships, All-Stars, all the money, all the commercials, movie. You have everything. Why do you still have that 19 years later,” Paul asked.

LeBron’s follow-up was straight to the point: he likes the game and he’s really good, even 19 years later.

“It’s just in me man. I love competing, I love winning. I love, just like, playing the game. Cause, I mean, I know at some point I ain’t gon be able to play it no more at that level. So, sh*t, why not like, I’m trying to squeeze as much juice out of this motherf***ing orange as I can. While I can. Why not?”

Just a day after the release of the new episode, LeBron put up 56 points in the 124-116 Los Angeles Lakers victory over the Golden State Warriors. So, his continuing point of “and I’m still good” holds its own weight.

“If I was out there on some bullsh*t, like nasty-looking Bron, I’d have been quit. But I’m still nice as f**k out there…I feel like every season for me it’s just like a movie. Every season is like a movie. And I’m like living in it. Like, I’m the star in the movie. It feels dope as sh*t. I be feeling like Batman.”

Retirement Plans

And it looks like fans may still have some years with the superstar player. LeBron is hoping to play alongside his son and high school basketball player Bronny.

“My last year will be played with my son,” LeBron told Jason Lloyd of The Athletic. “Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”
