Police said they were also informed firearms might be present in the apartment.

Police said less-lethal force was deployed by officers to gain access to the apartment.

The man deployed pepper spray at the officers before he was taken into custody, police said.

The 33-year-old man is facing seven charges including assaulting peace officers with a weapon, unlawfully in a dwelling and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

Two other people — a 41-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman — were also charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling. The woman is also charged with breach of court conditions.
